SMO 254 Manifold Valves are constructed from high alloy content austenitic stainless steel, comprising around 20% chromium, 18% nickel, 6% molybdenum, and minor additions of copper and nitrogen. This particular chemical composition greatly enhances corrosion resistance, especially in chloride environments. Mechanically, SMO 254 has high tensile strength of about 650 MPa, yield strength of 300 MPa, and excellent ductility. It maintains good impact toughness even at subzero temperatures, and hence it is perfectly suitable for use in applications that require durability, strength, and pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking resistance.
