347 Stainless Steel is a columbium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel whose outstanding resistance to intergranular corrosion and oxidation at high temperatures is well known. Its chemical composition typically consists of 17–19% Chromium, 9–13% Nickel, and columbium/tantalum addition for stabilization against carbide precipitation. Trace elements are Manganese, Silicon, Carbon, and Phosphorus. Mechanically, it has a tensile strength of about 515 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of 40%. They are ideal for use where long-term exposure to heat, pressure, and corrosive exposures are needed, especially in valve production.
